The Daily Record, Maryland’s legal newspaper, has selected Bruce Plaxen to receive The Daily Record’s 2013 Leadership in Law Award. Bruce was selected for his leadership in protecting the rights of people injured by the negligence of others, both in his law practice and as a leader in the Maryland Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice, organizations where he has dedicated his time to improving the civil justice system. As a leader in the Maryland Association for Justice, Bruce often testifies on behalf of injured victims in the Maryland General Assembly to ensure their rights are protected. Bruce has also undertaken many pro bono efforts, including assisting in the establishment of Trial Lawyers Care, which was the pro bono project that provided free legal services to the families of over 1,700 victims during the aftermath of 9/11. Throughout his career Bruce has been a leader in the effort to protect the rights of injured people in the civil justice system; in public through the political process and also in his everyday representation of people injured by negligence.
